Charice Pempenco to meet Justin Beiber

Philippine singing sensation Charice on Sunday defended herself from criticisms that surfaced following her recent appearance in a popular gay bar in the United States to promote her current international single "Pyramid."

Charice, 17, told “The Buzz” in a live interview that she was surprised that some people made a big deal out of her appearance at Club 57. She said it was not the first time that she went to clubs in order to promote the remix version of Pyramid.

“Hindi lang ako ‘yong nagpro-promote sa mga club. Ganoon talaga sila sa US…. umaalis na po ako [after ng performance ko]. Nagpe-perform lang po talaga ako," she said.

Amid the issue, Charice was happy that Pyramid placed 4th on the US Billboard pop/dance club chart.

Charice also confirmed that her self-titled international album will be launched on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on May 11, with Justin Bieber as a special guest. She said it will be her first time to meet Bieber.

She will also make a special appearance on “Good Morning America,” said Charice.

Online Nowaday play a huge role in our daily life. It is an avenue of Finding A job,marketing,looking for friends and relationship, and it made convenience to the operation of any course of action. Blogging is one powerful media that made a person invigorate his/her field

I am an Economics Student and i spend my Four years in college in analyzing various economic problems, solving innumerable equations,graphs and forecasting economic conditions.I cant imagine my self now ,playing the world of no boundaries, the so clalled " WEB". From the start of exploring the web, i was 15 years old that time , i only had this social network friendster. I am not aware that time how the world of online is very interesting the very fun to do with.. I started to explore the internet,blogging ! and i kept on surfing the internet and visiting others blog, at the same time i read lots of articles in national bookstore.Until i found my self Blogging . I blogged because i considered it as therapy. I can speak and write based on my feeling and broadcast it to the limitless world of web..It is my online diary at all.

When i was First year college . I rented a pc everyday because i don't have a personal computer in my house. I signed up in Blogger.com and started to blog . On that scenario , i learned a lot about HTML , CSS, XTML and others. No one taught me , even a single formal training on towards that thingy, I just surfed the WEb, download the web design and edit it on my own. Because of my controversial blog , I got innumerable readers and even in my University , I became popular. Everybody asked my next blog post.

When i reached second year second year , i applied as a University Student assistant and fortunately they hired me, its another way of increasing income, I was assigned at the supplies office , luckily i have my owned personal internet connection inside the office, so its an advantage for me to continue blogging and its a huge help to me. Because of my daily blog updates , my readers numbers rapidly grew. Various professors congratulates me. From being nobody, my blog motivates me to become somebody.

When i was third year college, i am already equipped with knowledge when it comes to facebook application and its a continuous learning to me .Until the Publication's chief of mass media appointed me to become a part of their editorial board and i am the web designer. I am very thankful because i am appointed to become a part of the publication without any screening like what the other journalist experienced . That was a big break and opportunity to me . When i started inside the newsroom , i did my job in the web but at the same time time i was trained also to become a writer. Various seminars and training inside the newsroom that lead me into the world of learning. I learned how to layout image using adobe photo shop, how to layout magazine and tabloid using adobe illustrator, where in its a huge contribution in web designing. I learned that because of the publication who cultivate me and nurtured me a lot.

and now i am now a section editor of the said publication . Simultaneously i am now studying my senior years in Economic course.

Travelers urged to respect Holy Week

A Catholic bishop in the Philippines on Thursday reminded the church's flock to respect the solemnity of Holy Week as he expressed dismay over the many who have turned the occasion into a summer vacation.

In an article posted on the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) website on Maundy Thursday, Palawan Bishop Pedro Arigo urged vacationers to "respect the sacredness of the Paschal Triduum."

Paschal Triduum starts evening of Maundy Thursday and ends on Easter Sunday. It commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

"I appeal to our people who spend their Holy Week in the beach to please refrain from holding beauty pageant or bikini contest. Let us respect the sacredness of the occasion," the bishop said.

Arigo said holding such events would "not only secularize the occasion, but also disregard the Christian practice of prayer, penance, and reflection during Holy Week."

Bishop Martin Jumoad of Basilan, for his part, urged the people to remain Catholics in words and actions even after the Lenten season.

"We are not only Catholic during holy week but we continue to give flesh to our faith in our day to day activity," he said.

Around 35,000 people were in Boracay as of Thursday to enjoy the long holiday break.

Initial reports reaching ABS-CBN News indicated there were fewer people in Boracay this year than in 2009. Around 60,000 were already on the island in last year's Holy Thursday.

ABS-CBN's Gretchen Fullido said there were also fewer celebrities on Boracay island compared to last year. Among those seen in Boracay were Richard Gutierrez, EJ Falcon, Cristine Reyes, and the Revilla family.

Metro churches still full

Despite the many who went to beaches and other resorts for the Holy Week break, thousands still flocked to churches in Metro Manila for the traditional Visita Iglesia and the Stations of the Cross, where people reflect on the sacrifices of Jesus.

Long lines of people confessing were also seen in various churches.

In Quiapo Church in the city of Manila, around 50,000 had visited as of Thursday morning.

Heavy traffic was observed in some churches, including Malate Church in Manila, Mt. Carmel Church in Quezon City, and St. Paul the Apostle Parish.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) media director Msgr. Pedro Quitorio said the number of people observing Visita Iglesia and going to masses during Holy Week is increasing.

Quitorio cited two factors for this is: population increase and poverty.

When a person is experiencing poverty, he or she tends to cling to religion, Quitorio said.

The CBCP also believes this year's Holy Week should be extra meaningful due to the May 10 elections.

Quitorio said voters should use the time to think and reflect on the best candidates for national and local posts, and urged candidates to fulfill their promises to voters in case they are elected into public office.

Alay lakad : this holy thursday in antipolo

Every merry month of May, the legendary town of Antipolo becomes a beehive of acitivity and vibrancy as thousands, from all walks of life, flock to this lovely place amongst the hills. To the lilting tune of native songs, people come to this town, primarily to pay homage to the miraculous Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage and, secondly, to take a breather from the heat and dust of the summer months amidst Antipolo's refreshing mountain air, rippling streams and springs.

In Antipolo, one finds the religious shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, popularly known as the Virgin of Antipolo (Birhen ng Antipolo).

The origin of our Virgin of Antipolo dates back to Spanish era in the Philippines, when galleon trade between the Philippines and Mexico were at its height

On March 25, 1626, Don Juan Niño de Tabora left the shores of Mexico aboard the galleon, El Almirante, to make its voyage to the Philippines. On this trip, Governor Tabora brought along the brown image of our Blessed Virgin Mother. For three months, the El Almirante safely braved the dangers of the stormy seas and a fire aboard the ship, arriving in the ports of Manila on July 18, 1626. Governor Tabora, realizing that the galleon's safe and successful journey was due to the presence of the image of the Blessed Virgin on board the ship, called for the pompous celebration of the image's arrival. Amidst pageantry and fireworks, the religious procession started from the Church of San Ignacio, the Jesuit Church in Intramuros, up to the Manila Catholic Cathedral, which became the first house of the Blessed Virgin's image. It is said that because of the events surrounding the safe voyage of the El Almirante, the Blessed Virgin was named Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buenviaje.

When Governor Tabora died in 1632, the Blessed Image was turned over to the care of the Jesuit fathers who were then constructing a church of Antipolo. Actually, a church was to be specifically built for the Blessed Virgin in the nearby barrio of Sta. Cruz. But attempts of the Jesuit fathers to move it from the Church of Antipolo were futile because somehow, as if in protest of leaving this town, the holy image was always found on the trunk of a tree called the Tipolo which grew in the original site of the old church. Because of these manifestations, a pedestal was curved out of the trunks of the said tree, and thus the Blessed Virgin became locally known as the Virgin of Antipolo.

During the occupation of the Japanese, the Blessed Image of our Lady of Antipolo was evacuated to the mountains of Angono, then at Santolan. The five hundred people who journeyed with the Brown Virgin all felt safe through their trips along steep mountain trails. For a while, the Blessed Virgin was housed in the Ocampo residence at Quiapo, previous to its transfer to the Quiapo Church where it stayed until October 15, 1945, when it was finally transferred to its original and permanent sanctuary at the Church of Antipolo. Every year, devotees commemorate this transfer, as they join the "Alay Lakad" from Quiapo Church to the Antipolo Cathedral starting at around 8:00 PM (30th of April) until dawn of the following day (1st of May).
