But when there is anger, there's always pain underneath.
For months at a time, my life has been constantly changed by passing of close friends, and unfornatunate events to people who I care. I learn to forgive people who have did me wrong 5-8 years ago (well, others didn't even bother to say sorry). And I'm starting to always look for reasons to smile, even everything else starts to mess and get ruined. I'm trying, at least. :)
Earlier today while on Twitter, someone posted something about MICO BANAYO. I didn't get to watch his story on free TV and so I googled. I had no idea what I was about to read was something tragic.
Mico Banayo, a victim of vitriolage or acid attack, has went public to raise funds for his surgeries.
Despite fears for his family's security, the 25-year-old student decided to share his story on Facebook and on GMA-7's "Wish Ko Lang" since his family is having a hard time paying for the said surgeries.
Banayo needs an eyelid surgery on his right eye to avoid further infection and to save his eyesight; a corneal transplant and cataract and glaucoma treatment on his left eye in the hopes of regaining his eyesight; and laser treatment on his face, chest, and other parts of his body due to 2nd- and 3rd-degree burns.
On March 15 this year, an unidentified man, who introduced himself as a messenger of a courier service company, came to Banayo at the latter's boarding house in Paranaque City with a letter. As Banayo was signing the acknowledgment receipt, the man reportedly poured a bottle filled with acid on Banayo's face. He was rushed to Olivarez Hospital where he received initial treatment for his injuries.
Mico Banayo, the president of his school's student government in 2010, was to graduate this year. His story will be featured on "Wish Ko Lang"
Mico Banayo is a victim of vitriolage or acid violence purposef - purposely splashing someone with acid with malicious intent, injuring or disfiguring the person out of jealousy or revenge.
March 15 this year, a stranger who introduced himself as a mail man of a courier company came with a letter. And while he was singing to receive it, the man reportedly poured a bottle filled with acid on his face. He was rushed to the hospital and got initial treatment.
And in the middle of my research, my heart bleeds knowing he is from Tanza, Cavite where I mostly stay and where I am right now.
And so I created a Twitter post with Noypistuff's story about Mico and his photo asking for help. I got 40 re-tweets. The other one I created got 11. And even more re-tweets from people who showed love.

This Video is not suitable for minors
Eto ang controversial video na kumalat sa FB noong 2011 share lang namin sa inyo This is a very sad video not for the weak heart.. We are against this kind of act. This is unacceptable Hindi na ito maka TAO ...... No to Child Abuse!
Our Prayers for the baby!
News:
Malaysian Citizens are shocked by the viral video on Facebook about a mother who abuses her daughter. The 4-minute home video shows her beating, kicking, pinching, and throwing objects at the baby in great anger. Another person who is taping the action is heard telling Ira, the name of the abusing mother, to stop her cruel actions. Most of those who have watched the video are deeply enraged by both the mother and the video taper – the former for abusing the baby, and the latter for letting it happen without intervening. Some other believed the videowoman had also been abused by the mother, hence her videotaping to be utilised as proof to put justice to the abuse case. However, through this post, we would like to confirm that Polis Diraja Malaysia officially states that the abuse video is dated almost a year ago (29 May 2011), and that the guilty mother is currently serving an 18-month jail service after the committed crime under the Malaysian Children Act 2001 (Seksyen 31(1) Akta Kanak-Kanak 2001). The baby is currently under the care of Social Welfare Department whereas the videowoman is a police witness of this case.
Cruel. Appaling. Beyond inhumane. Heartbreaking. Traumatising. Those are some of the reactions from those who have watched the video. It is still unclear if Ira is mentally disturbed, or is naturally a sadistic person – but we are left wondering about the level of morality our society is currently at. We have heard countless cases of animal cruelty in our country, and now – a few days before Mother’s Day, the nation is suddenly shocked by an arising number of child abuse from last year. The UNICEF noted that in Malaysia, 7 children are reported to be victim of abuse every single day. The number of reported child abuse cases are also continuously rising (from 1,999 cases in 2006 to 2,780 cases in 2008). These child and baby victims experienced abandonment or sexual and physical abuses Malaysia implements Children Act 2001 in the hope of stopping children abuse in the country. But as the aged Animal Act 1953, we believe it is crucial for child abusers to get more serious punishments so that we can prevent such cruelty cases from happening. Only then, the government would have fulfilled its very basic duty: providing welfare for the people.
As fellow human beings, it is also our responsibility to protect every member, especially the minors in our society. Kids, women, and animals are not created to be punching bags whenever anger strikes us. Are we getting too much social and economic pressures that we turn into barbaric, animalistic society instead of the sophisticated one we always brag about?
Abuse, rapes, and other crimes are deep-rooted problems in a society. More than economic problems, these are signs that people are frustrated and angry at lives they are currently living. It is high time we put away the smartphones and iPads we constantly use to fill the hole in our hearts, and ask ourselves: have I done my part as a human being – to love fellow humans and to care for the environment?
It is a dog eat dog world out there, but we humans are capable of doing good, if only we just try harder.
